The Apple TV seems like the forgotten child of the Apple community. Steve Jobs has called it a hobby, and most people who know what it is would rather use a mac mini instead.
Personally, I think it's a great product with a lot of potential, especially after its latest update. However, if the Apple TV is to fulfill this potential, it should be opened to developers. This doesn't mean turning it into a full-fledged computer for your TV but rather allowing plugins to be made that provide access to a wider variety of content sources. All those web-based video streaming sites that compel people to hook a mac mini up to their tv and control it through some hideously convoluted system would be able to provide a much more user-friendly interface for viewing their content from the couch.
I'd also like to see a greater consistency between the Front Row and Apple TV interfaces. In fact it would probably work best to just merge them into one app. The Apple TV runs OS X after all.
